OKoD on Audiobook, and a DSoD review

A few book-related items of note:

-“Our Kingdom of Dust” is now available as an audiobook, read by yours truly, Leonard Kinsey! It’s up on Audible.com, Amazon.com, and is also on iTunes. Retail is $14.95, but it seems to be listing on Amazon at around $13. Not a bad price for 4+ hours of entertainment!

-Jeff Heimbuch, author of the upcoming Rolly Crump bio, “It’s Kind of a Cute Story“, posted a great DSoD review on MiceAge: “I was pleasantly surprised. I was laughing out loud on almost every page. I was enjoying the tongue in cheek look at the OTHER side of Disney, the one most of us are so sure didn’t exist. Leonard Kinsey wrote the perfect alternative guide to visiting Walt Disney World.” Read the rest at Miceage.com!

Monorail Bar Crawl vid and Two OKoD reviews

Here’s a fun new video of me, Draven, and Pentakis doing a Monorail Bar Crawl. The part that you don’t see in this video is that once we were done at The Wave we went to The Magic Kingdom and did the “One More Disney Day”, where we continued to drink well into the morning. So this is like a prequel to that video!

Next up, two reviews for my new book, “Our Kingdom of Dust”! The first is a rave review from Kevin Yee at Miceage:

“The opening pages will grab you by the jugular and thrash you around until there is no escape; it’s a hard book to put down.”

Check out the rest at MiceAge.com!

Next is a podcast/video review from Jeff and George of Communicore Weekly. They loved it, too!

And, in other news, I’m going to Amsterdam in a little over a week! Should be an interesting trip, to say the least. If anyone has any tips or advice, please hit me up in the comments section below or via the contact form!

DSoD Fan (and his son) Sneak Into The Land VIP!

DSoD fan @tonecapo recently snuck up to the 3rd floor of The Land to check out the former VIP lounge, and filmed the whole thing! The kid is hilarious –  luckily they got out unscathed and he seems pretty happy about the whole thing by the end.

P.S. Don’t forget that “Our Kingdom of Dust” is now available in paperback, hardback, and ebook formats! If you liked DSoD you’ll get a real kick out of OKoD, and if you don’t you can yell at me in the comments section at the bottom of this post!

“Our Kingdom of Dust” is out!

Our Kingdom of Dust is officially released! I can’t even begin to describe how happy I am with the way the book turned out. My hope is that it will entertain you just as much as The Dark Side of Disney, but will also resonate on a whole different level. At the very least, you’ll have some kick-ass cover art to stare at, featuring the one and only Draven Star!

If you want it immediately, obviously the e-book is the way to go. It’s up for Kindle at Amazon and for other devices at Smashwords. It should be hitting iTunes and B&N in a week or so.

The paperback and hardback are both available from the new Bamboo Forest Publishing store. They won’t ship until later this week or early next week, but now is the time to place your order, because once these copies are gone, they’ll only be available from Amazon and other major retailers (this goes for DSoD, too)! I have about 60 copies of each (hardback and paperback of OKoD, and paperback of DSoD), so if you want a signed copy, place your orders now before they sell out!!!

Finally, we had 18×24 posters printed up of the “Dust Sniffing Princess” image, and they look absolutely gorgeous. The colors are vibrant, the image is ultra-sharp, and it looks incredible in a frame. This is an eye-catching piece of art that would be a great conversation piece in any Disney fan’s home. Again, this is a limited edition print, so once they’re gone, they’re gone for good!

All prices include shipping anywhere in the Continental USA. If you’re outside the US, contact us for an invoice which will include updated shipping charges. And, as usual, all copies ordered via this site will be signed, so if you want the inscription made out to someone else, please let me know in the “notes” section of the PayPal store.

Thanks in advance for your continued support of what I’m doing. It’s you, the reader, who is allowing me to continue releasing “alternative” Disney books, and for that I am deeply appreciative.

Sincerely,
Leonard Kinsey

Exciting News Coming Soon!

Sorry about the lack of updates and videos recently, but there are a ton of super-exciting things going on behind the scenes at DSoD headquarters that have been keeping us extremely busy. The team is planning multiple mind-blowing events for EPCOT’s 30th, designing some ultra-cool DSoD and “Our Kingdom of Dust” merch, and prepping for the release of OKoD in mid-May. Also, Bamboo Forest Publishing has some pretty epic projects in the works in addition to OKoD, the first of which will be announced next week at www.bambooforestpublishing.com! So stay tuned!

In the meantime, take a listen to my interview with Ken and Andy for Seven Second Delay on WFMU, my appearance on GeekCast Radio, and head over to Draven’s site for her EPCOT trip report!

DSoD Tattoos For Everyone!

Just uploaded a video of Draven and Pentakis getting their matching DSoD Anarchy Mouse Ears tattoos at Fallen Sparrow Tattoo Company during our March trip! Alixxx Rivera inked the girls, and they said he has a gentle touch and is obviously a skilled artist. So, if you’re ever in the Orlando area and are jonesing for a tattoo, Alixxx has the DSoD seal of approval!

Then later that night the girls gave me my own DSoD tattoo, albeit a temporary one. I throw in a few of these temp tattoos with any order from this site, so if you want some order a copy of the book or one of Draven’s 8x10s!

Other news:

1. Draven, Pentakis and I will be appearing at the National Halloween Convention just north of Philly on 5/4 and 5/5. We’ll be signing books and 8x10s, talking to fans, and I’ll be speaking on two author panels on Friday. The price for a floor pass is a helluva bargain at only $25 for the whole weekend, so come out, hang with the crew, spend some time with fellow Dark Ride enthusiasts, and buy me a beer!

2. As I said in the previous post, I’ll be in NYC on 4/18, so if you’re in the area come see me at the UCB Theater at 6PM for WFMU’s “Seven Second Delay” and then buy me a beer!

3. Some promo art for my upcoming book, “Our Kingdom of Dust” hit the Interwebs last week and went kinda viral, which was cool. Click below for a downloadable hi-res version, and bookmark www.bambooforestpublishing.com and www.ourkingdomofdust.com for up-to-the-date info on this book and other upcoming Disney-related books. And buy me a beer!

Leonard Kinsey in NYC!

That’s right, I’ll be in New York, NY on Wednesday 4/18/12!

I’ll be interviewed live at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater for WFMU’s Seven Second Delay, with hosts Ken and Andy (Ken is WFMU’s station manager, and Andy wrote Sgt. Bilko, was an uncredited writer on Hot to Trot, and was the writer/Executive Producer for Monk!!!). Tickets are only $5.

It’s a huge honor to be invited to appear on the legendary WFMU, the favorite radio station of Conan O’Brien, Matt Groening, and Lou Reed. Not to mention the first station to ever play Jeff Buckley. Damn. So hopefully I wont suck. But either way, after the show I’ll be heading to Rose’s Pizza in the Long Island RR Terminal of Penn Station, where I will proceed to gorge myself on incredible pizza and drink very large cups of beer.

So, yeah, if you’re in the NYC area, come out, watch me get grilled by Ken and Andy, and then buy me a beer (or two or three)!

Backstage in Mexico, Podcasts, Draven Mouse Ears, and DVC Rentals!

Lots of updates today, so I’ll dive right in!

First up are two new videos from my November 2011 trip. This was the same trip where I went up to Image Works and the Land’s VIP Lounge. One of the other locations I wanted to hit was backstage at the Mexico pavilion, because Hoot and Chief from Mesa Verde Times had previously told me how to get back there. Unfortunately, even though I did end up getting back there, I completely misunderstood their directions!

The first vid is the complete walk-through of my excursion. Check out the two dudes on their smoke break! Once I saw them I went from “exploring mode” to “escape mode”!

And the second vid is me showing Hoot and Chief the walk-through at the DSoD Party, and them laughing at me because I totally fucked up their directions:

Next up are a few podcasts that Draven and/or I have appeared on lately. Enjoy!

Communicore Weekly’s “In the Hot Seat”
DisAfterDark
Illogical Radio (also featuring an interview with Imagineering legend Rolly Crump!)

I’ll also be appearing live on “See Ya Real Late” at 11PM on Wednesday, 3/20/2012!

While trying in vain to buy Mouse Ears at the “One More Disney Day” event (it was SO crowded!), I saw these on display…. Coincidence?

Wait, what's embroidered on those ears?!

Coincidence?!

And finally, I wanted to recommend a company I’ve recently done business with: DVC-Rental.com. I was trying to book a 1-bedroom Villa for an upcoming trip, and thought I’d give them a try in addition to getting quotes through my normal message board channels. Well, Scott at DVC-Rental.com came through for me at a very reasonable $12/point, which was actually LESS than some of the people on the boards were offering! He was great to deal with and the whole transaction was quick and simple. If he keeps offering points at the same price as the message boards, I will absolutely continue to rent with him, and you should, too!

One More Dark Side of Disney Day!

Here’s the video from our “One More Disney Day” adventure on 2/29/2012. We showed up around 9PM (after going to Theme Park Connection and then Drinking Around the Monorail – videos of both coming soon) and it was incredibly crowded, to the point where they actually routed us backstage!

The back story behind “Cancer Patient Draven” is that she kept getting recognized in the parks earlier that week. We didn’t want to risk being stopped at the gates because we really wanted to attend the event, so we covered her up as much as possible and put her in Pentakis’ wheelchair. Worked like a charm! Draven actually was recognized later that evening by a Buzz Lightyear CM, so it wasn’t like we were being overly paranoid or anything. Luckily the dude was a fan and didn’t call security.

Anyway, we drank a bunch of booze, met up with some old friends and made some new ones, and generally had a great time until we left at around 5AM!
